The Pastoral Review Congress

The Pastoral Review Congress was a festival of theology hosted by the Aquinas Centre at St. Mary’s University on the 23^rd/24^th June 2018.

It consisted of a variety of first-class workshops organised around keynote addresses from David Wells, Austen Ivereigh and Bishop Nicholas Hudson. Alongside the launch of Karen North’s report on Faith Transmission among Young Adults, the centrepiece of the weekend was the Michael Hayes Memorial Lecture given by the renowned Jesuit theologian, Prof. Gerald O’Collins.

Author of over 75 books, Fr. O’Collins chose ‘The Papacy in Pastoral perspective’ as his theme identifying six key characteristics of sound pastoral theology drawn from Pope Francis and the Pastoral Review. Sponsored by the Mountbatten Institute, New York, the evening included a tribute to the legacy of Michael Hayes from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick and was concluded by Prof. Francis Campbell, Vice Chancellor of St. Mary’s University.
