St Mary’s Student Wins Gold at TeamGym British Championships

St Mary’s University, Twickenham (SMU) student Charlie Clark has won a Gold medal at the TeamGym British Championships in the Senior Mixed category.

St Mary’s University, Twickenham (SMU) student Charlie Clark has won a Gold medal at the TeamGym British Championships in the Senior Mixed category. The TeamGym British Championships took place at the end of July at Northumbria University, Newcastle.

TeamGym is a mixed competition held by British Gymnastics which includes routines performed on the floor, trampette, and a tumbling track. TeamGym routines require effective teamwork, excellent technique, and high-level acrobatic elements.

Charlie and the Bracknell Senior Mixed team took first place in the category with a total score of 50.650.

Speaking on this win Sports Rehabilitation student Charlie said, “It was a tough competition and our team had some troubles while competing, including an injury. Despite this, we overcame the setback and managed to get our reserve in to make sure we got the highest score possible.

“Winners never quit, quitters never win.”
