St Mary’s Performance Football programme brings together elite football and academic success.

St Mary’s University and Kinetic Partnership
We are proud to announce a new partnership with the to create a clear academic and sporting pathway into higher education for young footballers.
Students on the programme will be able to study across the full range of St Mary's degrees, while benefiting from performance-focused coaching, competitive fixtures and access to Kinetic’s football network - including showcase matches and talent identification opportunities.
To date, Kinetic coaches have helped 82 players from the Kinetic Academy to sign with professional clubs.
Football at St Mary's
Men’s football is the largest sports club at St Mary's, with five teams competing in the British University College Sports (BUCS) programme. In the 2025/26 season, the first team won promotion to South Eastern Tier 1 and won the South Eastern Conference Cup.
Kinetic coaching staff will provide support and coaching to the men’s first and second football teams in the BUCS leagues.
A typical week will consist of multiple training sessions on a brand new 3G pitch, regular Wednesday fixtures, and opportunities to train in our high-performance gym with qualified strength and conditioning coaches. All of this is tailored in a way that fits around students’ academic timetables.
With 10 league fixtures over a season from October to March, a typical week would look like:
- Monday: 5pm – 7pm (3G session)
- Tuesday: 7:30am – 8:55am (3G or gym session)
- Wednesday: Fixtures (1:30pm/2pm kick-off)
- Thursday: 5pm – 6:30pm (3G session)
A comprehensive offer
Alongside access to our new 3G pitches and coaching, other opportunities include nutrition workshops and kitchen sessions where you can practically apply the knowledge of good nutrition, whether pre- or post-match. Our MSc sport psychology students are also on hand to book in 1-to-1 sessions or group workshops.
There is also an opportunity to apply for a . This programme creates a bespoke opportunity to tap into some of the university’s academic and performance resources. Along with free club and gym membership, sports scholars have access to strength & conditioning, sport psychology, and sports nutrition.
