The St Mary’s Badminton Club is an inclusive and friendly group that offers an opportunity for members to play both socially and competitively.
Badminton provides a perfect balance of competition while being friendly and fun with an excellent social side. Training sessions are twice a week and are split into a coaching session on a Monday and a social session on a Thursday. We also have a casual Simms Active session on a Tuesday in which anyone is welcome to come as well as a No Strings Badminton Club on a Saturday morning which has members external to the university.
Our teams have the opportunity to compete in the BUCS league on Wednesdays, in which they have home and away fixtures, LUSL fixtures at the weekend, both home and away, and friendlies throughout the year. There are men's and women’s teams in our BUCS fixtures and a mixed team that plays in our LUSL league.
We hold a variety of social events throughout the year, both drinking and non-drinking events such as bowling and trips to the cinema. Other events throughout the year include Tour, a university-wide group holiday where all the sports clubs go to the same destination, the West London Varsity sports day against Brunel University, and the end-of-year Sports Awards Evening.
Badminton is perfect for those who are looking for a fun and competitive sport, whether you have played for years or never picked up a racket. So, no matter your ability, there is a place for you at our badminton club.”
