Academic strategy

We remain true to our university values of Generosity of Spirit, Inclusiveness, Respect, and Excellence, which encapsulate how we do things and what collectively makes us St Mary's University.

Introducing St Mary's University Academic Strategies

At St Mary’s, our Academic Strategy drives our ambition to be the place where humanity ignites possibility. We are committed to delivering transformational experiences in a supportive, inclusive, and inspiring environment - empowering students to become skilled problem solvers, socially engaged citizens, and leaders ready to tackle global challenges.

Interdisciplinary learning, community engagement, and research are central to our vision. Research and Knowledge Exchange not only underpin our teaching excellence but also extend our impact on society through innovation and practical application.

Aligned with Vision 2030, the Academic Strategy provides a roadmap to excellence in teaching, learning, research, and knowledge exchange. It spans all aspects of academic activity, from curriculum design and portfolio development to enhancing the student experience and outcomes.

Underpinned by the sub-strategies below, the St Mary's University Academic Strategy is dynamic - adapting to changing internal and external contexts while keeping student success and societal impact at its core. Looking ahead, the strategy outlines how our academic offer will evolve by 2030 to meet emerging opportunities and challenges.

For further details, including the overarching 2025–30 implementation plan and other planned developments, please contact the Provost Office (provost.office@stmarys.ac.uk).
