Stephen is a professor in applied exercise physiology and performance. He is currently the director of the Centre for Applied Performance Sciences and course lead for the Professional Doctorate in Strength and Conditioning. He has also published more than 80 peer-reviewed research papers.
Stephen joined St Marys in 2009, having previously graduated with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Napier University, Edinburgh (2005) before completing an MSc in Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise from Strathclyde University, Glasgow (2006). He then moved to Loughborough University where he completed his Ph.D. specialising in the responses and adaptations to exercise with blood flow restriction. He has consulted with numerous elite professional sport clubs (Premier League, NBA, NFL, and more) and organizations on the use of blood flow restriction for rehabilitation and performance.
