The Centre for Workplace Learning (CWL) at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham recently held a ‘Developing a Professional Approach’ exhibition for third year students to showcase their work placements. Students used the poster presentations to evaluate their experiences and to highlight their achievements and challenges. The presentations were attended by staff from across the University College and students planning to take work placements next year.
The work placements give students an opportunity to put theory into practice, to develop their skills and knowledge, and to start to plan their careers. Students have the opportunity to work in a range of organisations from Small and Medium Enterprises to multi-nationals, in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
St Mary’s Placement Tutor Fiona Wilson commented, “Students were delighted to have the opportunity to showcase their experiences and their learning, and to evaluate the contribution that they have made to their organisations.”
