The Centre for Workplace Learning (CWL) offers employers and students the opportunity to work together, through student work placements, to the benefit of both parties:
Working with a wide range of businesses, form local SMEs to international brands, and from corporates to community organisations and charities, we are committed to finding the best match between students and organisations so each can benefit from the experience.
St Mary's students work part-time on a voluntary basis to help employers achieve their goals while the organisations provide students with the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills to practical use and to develop an understanding of workplace culture and professionalism.
We have a range of modules which allow students to gain knowledge of a variety of sectors and business models, develop their skills and ensure that employers can gain from students who are focused and bring energy, motivation and knowledge to their work.
The CWL offers a number of accredited awards to recognise the achievements of our students through extra-curricular activity involving making a contribution to the community and developing employability skills.
St Mary's also brings students and employers together through internships, part-time work and volunteering opportunities - see the Careers Service for more information on these.
