Mission and aims

As an inclusive Catholic university seeking to develop the whole person and to empower our community to have a positive global impact, St Mary’s University promotes interdisciplinary research and scholarship which it aims to disseminate through the St Mary’s University Press.

The Press will embody the core values of St Mary’s by seeking to encourage inclusiveness, generosity of spirit, respect, and excellence in the publications it sponsors. Its publications will be produced to the highest professional standards, providing a forum to influence public policy debate and problem solving for the common good.

In this respect the St Mary’s University Press will, through its publications, stress the formation of the whole person: mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, as well as the creation of a social conscience.

To this end the Press is committed to furthering knowledge and making innovative and rigorous scholarship available to the widest possible readership through our range of research publications. Its primary publications will be academic volumes based on research sponsored by the University or its scholars including scholarly monographs and reference works.

By combining high quality scholarship with excellent production values we aim to produce academic works of lasting value. As well as traditional hard and paperback volumes the press will operate with electronic editions and Print on Demand models. As well as commissioning new volumes of current academic interest the Press will endeavor to reprint new scholarly editions of classic books now out of print.
