Following on from the success of last week’s events, athletes from the Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham have secured their places in the 2014 European Athletics Championships.
Andy Vernon has now secured his place in the 10,000 meters event, winning the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PB's track meet on Saturday 10th May.
Chris Thompson followed him in second place and also secured his selection for the European Athletics Championships.
In the women's race, EPACC athlete Beth Potter also gained selection for the competition by finishing in second place with a personal best time of 32:45.69, which was also inside the Scottish qualifying time for the Commonwealth Games.
Other performances on the day saw Sean Fontana win the men's B race with a personal best of 30:09.21. Following him in second place was Ian Bailey and Steven Connor coming in fifth. Both athletes ran a personal best.
Across the pond in the US, Adelle Tracey came second in the 800m race at the Occidental Invitational Meet, and Kris Gauson finished second in the 1500m race. Jemma Simpson also came second in her first 800m of the season at the Oregon Twilight meet.
