St Mary’s Media Centre Celebrates its First Year

Today, 22nd March, St Mary’s University, Twickenham is celebrating a year of success for its online Media Centre.

Today, 22nd March, St Mary’s University, Twickenham is celebrating a year of success for its online Media Centre. The site (www.stmarys.ac.uk/news/) launched in March 2013, replacing the static news pages, with an interactive section for all the latest news stories, features, blogs and videos from across campus. Developed and maintained by the in-house Marketing team, more than 400 pieces of content have been published in the last 12 months alone, attracting over 120,000 page views and around 40,000 unique visitors to the site. What’s more, around 75 per cent have gone on to visit the main St Mary’s website, demonstrating the growing importance for institutions to generate interesting and engaging content as part of its digital strategy. Content focuses on not only the latest news and events but also guest blogs, top tip features and videos, which are all fully supported and promoted on St Mary’s social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter. St Mary’s Senior PR and Marketing Officer Marina Boor commented, “The idea behind the Media Centre was to offer all the latest news and events in one, easy to use place. The introduction of new sections, including blogs and features, have encouraged users to interact with St Mary’s through social media sharing. There has also been a greater emphasis on staff research, and teaching and learning activity, showcasing the important work happening in each of the academic schools. “It is wonderful to see that the site has attracted so many visitors since its launch and our features, such as top tips for making the most out of an open day, have become some of the most popular pieces of content and I am looking forward to developing the site further in the coming year.”
