The Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham has seen three athletes and alumni selected for the World Athletics Championships in Beijing in August.
Recent Sport Science and Management Studies graduate Charlie Grice has been selected to run in the men’s 1500m. Charlie has had an impressive season so far winning Gold in the British Indoor Championships and the British Athletics Championship. He also represented Team GB in the European Indoor Championships and came fourth in the prestigious Emsley Carr Mile race at the Anniversary Games in London on the 25th July.
St Mary’s Alumnus and EPACC Athlete Steph Twell has also been selected to compete in the women’s 5000m. Steph recently won the women’s 5000m at the British Athletics Championships and came fourth at the KBC Night of Athletics in Heusden, Belgium. St Mary’s and EPACC alumnus Mo Farah has also been selected to defend his 5000m and 10,000m titles at the championships having won the men’s 3000m at the Anniversary Games.
EPACC Centre Coordinator Craig Winrow said, “It’s great to see Steph Twell back competing with the British team and Charlie Grice making his first global championships. All the athletes and staff at EPACC wish them all the best of luck at the World Championships.”
