The recent British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Conference on Business of University Sport, held from 14th to 17th July, saw two St Mary’s University, Twickenham members elected to roles within the London regional group.
Director of Sport St Mary’s Andrew Reid-Smith was voted in as Staff Chair, while Vice-President of Sports and Societies for St Mary’s University Students’ Union Hester Benham was voted in as Student Chair.
The London regional group meets four times a year and decides matters for consultation, allowing member opinions to be represented to the BUCS management and Board. Andrew Reid-Smith and Hester Benham will both sit on the BUCS Advisory Group, which is tasked with providing the BUCS Board and Management Team with advice and guidance concerning members’ views. The Board will then have a role in contributing to decisions made on the running of the organisation.
Andrew Reid-Smith said, “By virtue of the size and number of London's institutions and the quality of the student sports programmes, the regional group is a particularly strong and dynamic one. This reflects well on and will support St Mary's student sport, we are delighted to have been voted into our respective roles and look forward to representing the views of the region on the BUCS Advisory Group.”
