St Mary’s University, Twickenham will be hosting a variety of events and offering special deals to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Fairtrade Fortnight from 23rd February to 8th March 2015.
Fairtrade Fortnight will start with a launch event on Monday 23rd February where students and staff can find out more about Fairtrade products and how they make a real difference to lives of farmers in the developing world. Students, Staff and visitors can find discounts on Fairtrade products in the Refectory and the Dol.cHe Vita Cafe.
The fortnight will draw to close with a Fairtrade Walk, which will see five Fairtrade groups join together to walk across West London to discover shops and organisations that support Fairtrade locally. The walk will take in Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hounslow and Richmond, including local places of interest like Kew Gardens and Ealing Studios. There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy Fairtrade refreshments en route.
During the fortnight there will also be a Fairtrade Matters film and quiz night in the St Mary’s Students’ Union (SMSU) Bar. The film Fairtrade Matters, is a thought provoking 13-minute film that offers a glimpse into the lives of two farmers. The film will also be screened at regular intervals in the Dol.cHe Vita Cafe during the fortnight.
