Three athletes from the Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham are to compete at the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships this week.
Hosted in Portland, USA, the Indoor Championships bring together the world’s leading athlete’s to compete in a host of athletics events. St Mary’s Alumna and EPACC athlete Steph Twell will compete in the women’s 3000m event, St Mary’s Alumnus and EPACC athlete Charlie Grice will compete in the men’s 1500m and current student and EPACC athlete Adelle Tracy will compete in the women’s 800m.
Both Charlie and Steph competed at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing 2015, with Charlie making the final of the men’s 1500m and Steph competing in the women’s 5000m final. More recently, Adelle won the women’s 800m at the British Indoor Championships, with Charlie and Steph also winning their competitions.
Director of Sport St Mary’s Andrew Reid-Smith said, “Steph and Charlie are experienced senior internationals but this marks Adelle’s first senior major championships. All three are in good form and the World Indoors provides an exciting opportunity for them to compete on a world-class stage.”
