Ahead of the new academic year, The School of Management and Social Sciences (MSS) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, launched a new Research Cluster on Globalisation Governance and the Digital Economy, led by Professor Emanuela Todeva.
The cluster, that has actively mobilised the energy of academic staff, has already facilitated two research presentations, three conference participations and four published journal articles. Lead contributors to the cluster activities are Professor Merlin Stone, Dr Eleni Aravopoulou, and Dr Anthony Davies amongst others.
The cluster is aligned with the school strengthening its capabilities in the field of International Business Management – in line with the launch of its International Business Management Master’s degree, in partnership with business school, EMD Marseilles, France.
Prof Philip Booth, Director of Research & Public Engagement at St Mary’s commented,
"St Mary’s has an established culture of research and scholarship, concentrated in hubs of excellence.
"In recognition of the fact that many of our academics have extensive national and international networks, our approach to the development of research clusters will offer even greater opportunities for collaborative working. The Globalisation Governance and the Digital Economy Research Cluster is an excellent example of this vision in practice."
Members of the cluster work on research projects leading to publications in the field of Business models and strategy, education policy and Higher Education Institutions models, Platforms and Data, innovation strategies and applications, governance and management, regional development and entrepreneurship.
In addition to a coordinated research effort, the group runs it’s own ‘Publication Engine’ aiming to support colleagues to convert their areas of research into value-added academic publications.
