Senior Coach Developer at the Football Association, Ben Bartlett, recently helped deliver a Football Education, Coaching and Development FdA module at St Mary's University, Twickenham.
Ben is responsible for educating coaches within both grassroots and professional academy contexts and supports with the England national schoolboy representative teams.
Ben supported delivery of ‘The Holistic Development of the young footballer’ module. This module aims to provide students with an introduction to key issues, concepts and theories relating to the technical, physical, social and psychological development of young people as outlined in ‘The FA four corner model’.
The module develops knowledge and understanding of how these factors are inextricably interconnected and should be coached and valued with equal weighting. Chelsea FCF Girls RTC programme is providing a contextual platform for students to go and critically evaluate how this is interpreted and applied in practice to provide an experience to inform and interrogate their current beliefs.
The Football Education, Coaching and Development programme (in partnership with Chelsea FC) continues to strive to create experiences that help inform students, in relation to practically applying theory and concepts.
