Nineteen current, former, and associate athletes at the Endurance Performance Centre (EPC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham (SMU) have qualified to compete at the upcoming UK Athletics Championships.

The UK Athletics Championships will take place at the Manchester Regional Arena from Saturday 29th June to Sunday 30th June. The event gives athletes the chance to compete for national titles and to qualify for a place at the Paris Olympic Games later this summer.

Thomas Randolph, Jack Rowe, Zak Seddon, Izzy Fry, and Elliot Giles all competed at the European Athletics Championships in Rome earlier this June. Thomas, Jack, and Izzy are EPC alumni, with Thomas still regularly training at the University. Zak is an English Athletics (EA) Talent Hub athlete based at SMU, while Elliot is a two-time Olympian and SMU alumnus who trained in the elite facilities at the University as a member of the EPC.

Elliot was also named captain of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the European Championships.

At the UK Championships Thomas will be running in the men’s 800m, with Elliot set to compete in either the 800m or the 1500m. Both Jack and Izzy will race in the men’s and women’s 5000m respectively, with Zak competing in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.

Jake Wightman will be running in the men’s 1500m at the UK Athletics Championships. Jake has been an EPC Associate since 2017, using the SMU athletics track and sporting facilities to support his training. In 2022, Jake won Gold at the World Athletics Championships in the men’s 1500m.
