St Mary’s University, London students on the Chelsea Football Club Foundation Coaching and Development degree have successfully completed their Goalball School Leaders Award. The Goalball School Leaders Award is a coaching qualification developed in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust.
This achievement means that students on the Chelsea FC Foundation course are now qualified to deliver introductory sessions and tournaments in schools, which is a fantastic milestone in their development.
Speaking on this achievement Lecturer in Football Development and Coaching Becky Shubber-Barton said, “The students had an incredible opportunity to gain their Goalball School Leaders Award yesterday. Not only are they now qualified coaches, but they also expanded their knowledge of a new sport, strengthened their leadership skills, and enhanced their confidence in delivering sessions. This experience also fostered inclusivity by introducing them to a sport designed for visually impaired participants, helping them appreciate the importance of accessible and inclusive physical activity. The course was well-organised, engaging, and we are really grateful to Stephen Newey for leading the day.”
The Chelsea Football Club Foundation Coaching and Development Degree allows students to develop an in-depth understanding of the football industry, with learning taking place at multiple locations, including St Mary’s University, Stamford Bridge, and the Chelsea FC Training Ground in Cobham.
