Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to share the sad news of the death of Lee Brooks, who passed away last Thursday, 7 August. Lee was Senior Lecturer in Film, and a long-standing member of our University community for over 30 years. As a student, he graduated in History in 1996 and joined as a member of staff in 1997, progressing into a range of roles in the arts and humanities throughout his career at St Mary's.
Lee was extremely popular with his colleagues and students. His commitment to his students' personal and professional development was well known, and students looked forward to seeing their final projects on display in the exhibitions he organised both on campus and in London. He will be especially remembered for his love of all things Disney, and his contributions to academic thought in this area.
Lee's passing is a big loss for our University community, and he will be deeply missed. We offer our sincere condolences to our colleague Sarah Brooks, Lee's wife, and ask that staff keep her in their thoughts and prayers.
Our thoughts and prayers are also with Lee's family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.
