  • The programme is dual accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Upon successful completion of the programme students will be eligible for a CMI L7 qualification in Strategic Management and Leadership (subject to passing the required CMI mapped modules* and CMI moderation).
  • Opportunity for you to undertake an industry placement.
  • Flexibility in the programme allows you to consider specialising in academic research or management consultancy.

Why study International Business Management?

Through this International Business Management master’s degree, you will develop your understanding of how business works internationally and could work for you. Underpinned by a focus on responsible business practices, the course will support you in furthering your management career and empower you to consider new opportunities at home and abroad.

This course is a natural pathway for business and management graduates, and is also open to all who have completed an undergraduate degree.

You will be guided by an experienced academic team through current thinking on business disciplines that range from corporate governance to sustainability, marketing to resource management and business law to economics.

On completing the master's degree, you will also gain an accredited award from the Chartered Management Institute.

Please note: students who gain a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma will not be eligible for a CMI Level 7 qualification.

Entry requirements

2:2 Previous degree

You are expected to have at least a second class honours degree from a UK or overseas university (or equivalent).

Additional requirement information

You may have read business or management before as part of your undergraduate degree, but this is not required and we recognise that many students will come to study the programme from a humanities, sciences, sports or technology background.

Mature students with relevant managerial experience but with limited educational qualifications will be considered and all applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

International requirements

International students should check our country-specific pages for equivalents. If English is not your first language you will need to achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any section (or equivalent).

We now accept IELTS Indicator test results as proof of your English language level.

A master's degree in International Business Management will provide you with an excellent academic qualification to embark on or progress your career in management.

You will be able to demonstrate the positive contribution that your knowledge, understanding, passion and skills will bring to an international organisation or a business aspiring to become global.

How the degree is taught

Teaching methods

You'll be taught on our beautiful and historic campus located in Twickenham, London.

The programme is taught through a mix of lectures, seminars, tutorials and study groups. Mirroring the business environment, teamwork is a vital component of the course and you will be expected to work closely with your fellow students.

As a postgraduate student, you will also conduct a great deal of independent work and research that is supported by our experienced academic team.

We will provide you with key tools such as our online portal, SIMMSpace and provide you access to our extensive online resources and business databases. 

Assessment methods

Assessment will take the form of individual and group work that may include essays, reports, time-constrained coursework, oral presentations and consultancy projects. 

Each module is assessed separately and will have a maximum of two pieces of assessment. All assessments count towards your master's award

Tuition fees

The tuition fees listed are for the duration of the course. Students will be charged for the modules undertaken per academic year. Module prices are calculated as a percentage of credits against the total credits and cost of the degree. Please see clause 5.15.2 of the Tuition Fee Regulations for further information.

Tuition fees are subject to an inflationary increase each year, meaning if your course runs over more than one academic year you may pay an increased fee per module for each subsequent year of study. Tuition fee increases for returning students will be capped at the higher of 5% per annum or the rate of Consumer Price Index inflation in the United Kingdom.

Alumni discount

A 20% tuition fee discount is available for our alumni (undergraduate and PGCE) planning to study this Master's degree. Those studying for a PGDip of PGCert are not eligible for the discount.

Funding

Government-funded loans of over £11,000 are available to many home postgraduate students. Home and international students may also be eligible for external sources of funding.  International students should check their eligibility for our International Scholarship.
