Why study Sport and Exercise Nutrition?
A number of factors contribute to success in sport, and diet is increasingly recognised as a key component of optimal sporting performance, with both the science and practice of sports nutrition developing rapidly. Regardless of the athlete’s level, professional or someone who simply enjoys working out, what, when and how much to eat or drink can have a huge impact on athletic performance and personal goals.
You will explore the important relationships between nutrition and physical performance in different sports but also encouraged to think critically about existing practices, as well as carrying out your own research to help shape the future of the sport nutrition industry.
You will also have the opportunity to improve your CV with work placements opportunities.
The Sport and Exercise Nutrition course (BSc) at St Mary’s is designed in line with the guidelines set by the Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENR), which sets the standards for all practitioners in the field. This allows the students to develop all the necessary knowledge and competences needed for employment in the area when graduating.
