Biography
Ben designs and delivers both online and face-to-face teaching at St Mary’s that is authentic, contemporary, and grounded in current industry practice. He leads modules and contributes to the development of curriculum and courses that equip students with the relevant skills required for the professional practice environment.
Alongside his teaching responsibilities, Ben provides academic support to students, helping them progress and achieve their short- and long-term goals. He also contributes to the enhancement of internal processes, engages in research activity, and works closely with sports clubs to create and expand opportunities that enrich the student experience and strengthen industry connections.
Ben is an experienced lecturer and performance analysis specialist whose career spans higher education, elite football environments, and applied professional practice. He has led curriculum design and course development across undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, embedding industry relevant content, active learning strategies, and inclusive pedagogy. Ben has delivered significant improvements in student satisfaction, contributing to the NSS Learning from Excellence Award.
His research activity includes presenting at major international conferences, contributing book chapters within subject specific academic books, and producing scholarship that advances both performance analysis and pedagogic innovation. Alongside teaching and research, Ben serves as an external examiner at multiple institutions across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He also contributes to the validation and revalidation of internal and external degrees, shaping curriculum design and academic standards across the sector. Ben has also forged impactful partnerships with Premier League clubs and national governing bodies, enhancing student employability and applied learning experiences.
