St Mary’s is perfectly situated between Heathrow Airport and London, one of the most exciting cities to enhance your studies and your social life. Our campus is delightful and feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Central London and yet you can be there in just a short train ride.
Discover more about what St Mary's has to offer you:
St Mary’s is a modern, friendly University offering the best of both worlds: with just under 6,000 students it’s easy to feel at home quickly, but we're big enough to offer you all the challenges and excitement of a full and rewarding student life.
The buildings are steeped in history, being set in the grounds of the original Strawberry Hill House, a world famous example of the Gothic Revival style.
The leafy, self-contained campus also includes modern and well-resourced teaching blocks, accommodation, a Learning Resources Centre and sport facilities. Why not take a virtual tour or come to one of our open events?
We are located in a pleasant part of South West London where a green space is never very far away. At the same time you have all the advantages of the busy towns of Kingston and Richmond close by, and central London is just over 30 minutes away by train.
Our students can experience 300 years of history and 150 years of teaching tradition and expertise, combined with the most up-to-date facilities.
International students account for almost 10% of our total student population of around 5,000 and follow full degree as well as Study Abroad and Erasmus programmes.
Our active Students' Union (SU) and location mean we can offer you an exciting social life both on and off campus. The SU organises all kinds of entertainment, from weekly events through to annual major occasions like Freshers' Week, SIMMStock (above) and our Summer Ball. You can easily travel into London or to towns like Kingston and Richmond for cinema, clubs and theatres.
A student-centred, friendly atmosphere, very high student satisfaction rates and a strong research culture places us in a favourable position amongst London providers of Higher Education. Our Catholic ethos is rooted in a well earned tradition of making people of all faiths or no faith feel welcome, and in offering hospitality to everyone.
We have an excellent reputation for sport with numerous successes every year in team and individual events.
Our first-rate facilities make us an excellent choice for all from talented and committed sports people through to those who play sport or keep fit for fun.
St Mary’s offers nearly 500 undergraduate degree programmes. Many subjects can be combined, offering you flexibility and choice to shape your studies the way you want to. We also offer PGCE programmes, Masters courses and a range of professional short courses.
Recent results show that up to 61% of undergraduate students achieve a 2:1 or First Class Honours degree.
Our experienced and dedicated lecturers, many of whom are respected international scholars, are committed to their subject and to teaching. With good staff/student ratios they get to know you very well.
We are able to offer you work experience modules through the Centre for Workplace Learning and an excellent Careers Service to help you achieve your goals. We were proud to be ranked highly in league tables, with over 96% of graduates in employment or postgraduate study within six months of graduating.
