The London Marathon Young Athlete Camp has been running successfully at St Mary’s for a number of years. 90 of Britain’s top young runners are selected to attend the programme, which offers an exciting and inspirational experience for athletes and coaches alike, providing a five day residential training and educational camp.
The young athletes benefit from talks with Olympic athletes that in recent years have included Mo Farah, Leonel Manzano and Andrew Osagie, covering a range of topics and highlighting their progression to becoming world-class athletes.
As well as practical sessions covering areas such as mixed pace training, hurdle drills and track sessions the athletes participate in workshops that look at physiological assessment, lifestyle, injury prevention and psychological interventions.
The camp is always a great success, benefitting from the input that all the athletes and coaches provide. The St Mary’s campus provides a unique learning experience at one of the world’s leading endurance environments.
