Postgraduate course application process
To apply for an MA, MSc or LLM course please download and complete the relevant application directly from the postgraduate course page by clicking the "Apply for this course" button:
Generally, your application should be accompanied by two references (one of which should be academic) and a copy of the certificate of the highest qualification you have gained to date. Referees can be anyone who knows you well enough to attest to your ability to follow a programme of study at Masters level; this could be a tutor from your university, or your current employer.
Postgraduate Entry requirements
Applicants to Masters programmes are normally required to have at least a second class honours degree from a UK university or equivalent qualification and/or professional interests and experience relevant to their chosen course, together with appropriate references. For additional entry requirements specific to individual courses, please see the course webpages.
Candidates who do not have a first degree or relevant experience, but who nonetheless are considered to have the potential to successfully undertake Masters level study, may be required to register for an initial module or undertake a level three module to assess their suitability.
When we receive your application
Applications are considered by the relevant Programme Director who may want to interview you before making a decision. When evaluating your suitability for the course the following will be taken in to account:
- your interest in and commitment to the course
- your academic background and qualifications
- your professional interests and experience
MPhil / PhD students
Please see the postgraduate research page or contact the Head of School in the area of your personal research. The Head of School can arrange an interview with you and take you through the process of registration.
International / Overseas Applicants
International Postgraduate Students should follow the application process as outlined above. In addition to the general application information required, you will also need to submit copies of the following:
- copies of academic transcripts and certificates
- a copy of your English language requirements (if needed)
- a copy of your passport
- two academic or professional references or information on how and when we can expect these to reach us - these references can be submitted using our online reference form.
If for whatever reason you don’t have these available at the time, you are still welcome to send in an application but we will not be able to fully assess your application or make an offer until we have all of the information required.
Please note: original or official copies of these documents may be requested as part of the process.
