St Mary’s students selected to represent GB at FISU World University Cross Country Championships

Two St Mary’s University, London students have been selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming FISU World University Cross Country Championships 2026.

The prestigious international event will take place in Italy from 14-15 March, bringing together student-athletes from more than 30 countries to compete at the highest level of university sport.

Among those selected are sport scholars, Hannah Clark, who will compete in the 3,000m, and Matthew Pickering, who will take on the 10,000m race. Both athletes train within St Mary’s highly regarded endurance programme and will represent GB Students on the international stage.

Andrew Reid-Smith, Head of Sport at St Mary’s, praised the achievement of both athletes: “We’re delighted to see Matthew and Hannah selected to represent GB Students at the FISU World University Cross Country Championships. International selection is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment and performance standards they have shown, supported by the environment within St Mary’s Endurance Performance Centre. Everyone at St Mary’s wishes them every success in Italy.”
