Biography
I teach within the School of Medicine, with a focus on clinical medicine and communication skills.
I am a Lecturer in Medical Education, working primarily as a Clinical Teaching Fellow for medical undergraduates. I am also involved in curriculum development, focussing on clinical communication skills within the School of Medicine.
I have a diverse clinical background and am interested in the interface between physical and mental health, having worked as both a Specialist Registrar in Medical Oncology and a specialty doctor in General Adult Psychiatry in the NHS in London. I have also worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London.
I graduated from Oxford University with both a Distinction in Clinical Medicine and an MA in Medical Sciences. I have passed the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and gained a Masters in Oncology from the Institute of Cancer Research.
My PhD in clinical research, awarded by Imperial College London, focused on advance care planning in later life following an emergency hospital admission. My thesis used mixed methods and co-designed approaches, working in partnership with patients, carers and front-line NHS clinicians. This doctoral research gained recognition from the National Institute of Health Research, highlighting the relevance of advance care planning discussions after emergency hospitalisation for older adults within the NHS.
I enjoy collaboration and inter-disciplinary work.
Outside work, I enjoy reading, cooking and the arts.
