Biography
Baljinder is a Placements Officer within the School of Medicine, supporting the coordination and delivery of community and GP placements for students on the MBBS programme. Her role includes managing placement allocations, maintaining records, responding to student and educator queries, and facilitating the effective delivery of placement activity across the programme. She works closely with placement providers, educators and academic colleagues to ensure students have access to high-quality placement experiences throughout their studies.
Baljinder has over six years of experience in higher education, working across several universities to support undergraduate students through academic and placement-related processes. She has extensive experience working with diverse student populations, including international students, and coordinating provision for large cohorts.Prior to joining the School of Medicine, Baljinder worked at Brunel University London, where she supported placement initiatives for over 600 students across disciplines including Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology and Sociology. She collaborated with students, academic teams and external partners to coordinate activity, enhance engagement and contribute to a positive student experience.
As a trained Mental Health First Aider, Baljinder has supported students navigating a range of challenges during their studies, reinforcing her commitment to appropriate signposting and timely support. This experience has strengthened her student-centred approach and her focus on creating inclusive and supportive learning environments.
Baljinder is passionate about developing meaningful learning opportunities that enable students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, build professional skills and develop confidence for their future careers. Her professional interests include student experience, coaching, mentoring and professional development.In addition to her role, Baljinder holds a Level 5 Professional Coaching qualification and is committed to supporting individuals through coaching, reflection and personal growth.
Outside of work, Baljinder enjoys travelling, spending time in nature through walking, and listening to music. She is also a Level 2 Usui Reiki Practitioner with a strong interest in wellbeing, holistic development and lifelong learning.
