Jo joined St Mary’s University in 2021 after working as a lecturer in Primary Education at UCL. Previously, Jo worked in primary schools for twenty years. Within that time in schools, Jo led on teaching and learning and was deputy head for 10 years. Jo had the role of KS1 and KS2 assessment lead in the borough of Hillingdon. Jo also led in inclusion and is passionate about working with diverse communities.
Jo has a BA (hons) QTS in Primary Education. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. At St Mary’s, Jo is a lecturer in Primary English on both the PG programme and the BA and a lecturer in Early Years on the WBR programme.
Jo belongs to the UKLA special interest groups for reading and writing and, along with her team, provides CPD for local schools in developing their knowledge of children’s reading and writing practices. Jo is a member of the chartered college of teaching.
