About Research



Jourdain Benstead-Banthorpe is a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Strength and Conditioning Sciences. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Bedfordshire in 2017 and 2018. In conjunction with his role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant he has started a PhD at St Mary's investigating how blood flow restriction training can be applied to those with patellofemoral pain syndrome.

Jourdain gained a wide range of experience in Strength and Conditioning previous to joining St Mary's. Working with University students at Warwick University, academy players at Northampton Saints RUFC also working within the Human Performance Centre at the University of Bedfordshire. Notably this included helping send several students to the World University Games.


Research profile

Jourdain is currently undertaking a PhD which investigates the effects of blood flow restriction training interventions on those with patellofemoral pain. His interests lie mainly with the changes in biomechanics and pain response to blood flow restriction training.
