Biography
Michael Pugh is the course lead on the LLM in International Business Law, as well as a qualified solicitor who previously ran the Moscow Capital Markets and Restructuring practices at Hogan Lovells.
The start of Michael's Law career saw him become the first of his intake of trainees to make partner at Hogan Lovells in 2008. At Hogan Lovells, Michael worked on transactions in jurisdictions ranging from Bolivia to Russia. He spent more than eight years working in Moscow, where he also led the Moscow office’s community engagement and the partnership with Youth Business International.
Prior to this, Michael worked in the Ukrainian gas industry for two years before undertaking the Post-Graduate Diploma in Law at Nottingham Law School.
Michael's main area of interest is in the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Eastern Europe. He has a passion for literature and is director of the Llangwm Literary Festival in his spare time.

Research
Research profile
Michael teaches International Economic and Business Law, International Arbitration, and the Dissertation at master's level, as well as the English Legal System and Practical Legal Skills at undergraduate level.
He is the author of ReviseSQE Contract Law and has published on Russia and Ukraine for The Sunday Times and the Royal Geographical Society.
