Biography
Tim is a Senior Lecturer in Law at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. He is dedicated to delivering high-quality legal education that integrates academic study with practical application. At St Mary’s, he plays a key role in developing experiential learning initiatives, supporting students in gaining hands-on legal experience and preparing them for successful careers in the legal profession.
Tim holds a Juris Doctor from Ohio State University (2014) and began his legal career in the United States as a prosecutor for the City of Chicago, where he appeared regularly in both criminal and traffic courts. He later worked with the National Immigrant Justice Center, supporting clients in securing lawful immigration status and through deportation proceedings while leading a help desk for unrepresented respondents in Chicago Immigration Court.
During this period, Tim was actively involved in pro bono initiatives, establishing and delivering a range of community legal clinics. These included programmes supporting Chicago Public School students, individuals facing deportation, and sex workers—groups often marginalised in accessing legal protection and representation.
In 2019, Tim transitioned into academia at Arizona State University, where he taught and supervised the Civil Litigation Clinic. In this role, he oversaw students providing free legal advice and representation to low-income clients across consumer, housing, and public benefits matters, combining legal education with meaningful community impact.
Tim relocated to the UK in 2023, qualifying as a solicitor through the SQE. He subsequently served as Law Programme Leader at Bath Spa University and co-coordinated the Bath Law Clinic and Social Enterprise Clinic in partnership with Citizens Advice. Under his supervision, students supported practising solicitors in delivering pro bono advice across a range of areas, including family, employment, immigration, and charity law. The Social Enterprise Clinic was recognised with the Best Pro Bono Activity award at the 2025 Bristol Legal Awards.
