Why become a Coach and apply for a bursary?

Enhance your CV

A recent study by British University & Colleges Sport (BUCS) showed that employers appoint graduates with coaching, leadership, teaching and volunteering qualifications. Engaging in sport is associated with a salary increase of between £4,200 and £5,600 over those who do not engage.

Personal development

There is a clear link between being involved in coaching & officiating and developing your organisational, leadership and communication skills – key skills which you need for any career you go into.

Paid roles

Throughout the year we have a number of paid coaching roles available, including coaching on our weekly and school holiday SIMMSport programmes. Gain qualifications and experience to improve your chances of earning these paid roles.

Self-satisfaction

Volunteering in sport allows you to have a positive influence on people’s lifelong involvement in sport and be instrumental in helping people learn new skills. 70% of sports volunteers state that their biggest benefit is that they thoroughly enjoy their roles.

Nationally recognised qualification

That no-one can take away from you!

Develop your club

Help support the development of your club by gaining further qualifications and knowledge which can be used to support coaching, refereeing or first aid.
