St Mary’s Students’ Union is the main representative body of all students at St Mary’s University.

We offer advice and guidance to students on an individual basis and represent students at university, locally and nationally. SMSU also coordinates all sports clubs and societies on campus and provides all major events and entertainments throughout the year.

Each year, SMSU holds elections for the new leaders of the organisation: the Education President, Sport President and Student Life President, as well as the Student Leadership Team (part time officers). Candidates must be students at the time of the SMSU Elections, which happen in February or March each year.

As you can see, when we say that SMSU is 'run by students, for students' we really mean it!#

Events and activities

SMSU coordinates a jam-packed calendar of events during term-time. They range from talks and discussions with special guest speakers and pop up events like the puppy rooms to full blown nights out like the Summer Ball.

Clubs and societies

Whilst the sport clubs are managed by Sport St Mary's, the Students' Union run a wide range of other clubs and societies.

If there is a society you'd like to be involved with, but it doesn't currently exist, the Students' Union are always eager to support students in creating new societies.

St Mary’s Students' Union (SMSU) is an independent not-for-profit organisation (charity no: 1150328).
