Your home away from home should feel safe and comfortable. We’re working hard to make sure next term is as normal as possible while protecting everyone in our community.

All our facilities are open. So whether you need to put on a quick wash in the laundry, or want to head down to dinner with friends, daily life at St Mary’s will soon feel familiar.

But we’ve had to make some changes to keep everyone safe. You’ll find hand sanitiser or hand washing facilities throughout campus, there will be screens and one-way systems, and we’ll be spreading out seating to give everyone more space.

Perhaps the biggest change you’ll notice is our residential ‘bubble’ system for students living on campus. This is the best way for you and your friends to socialise together in shared areas within your bubble – that way you won’t need to wear a mask or keep your distance with those in your residential bubble. Currently this means you can't have people from outside of your residential bubble come and visit your halls, and at meal times each table will host a maximum of 6 people.

We know that moving away from home for the first time is a big deal (even before the pandemic). Don’t forget we’ll be there every step of the way. You will have an induction when you arrive to explain the accommodation and any new safety guidelines we’ve introduced. And we have lots of support available if you need it.

What about moving day?

To spread out arrivals, we’re offering time slots during the week before teaching starts, 21- 27 September. We’ll send you information about how to book your slot when you’ve confirmed your accommodation.

Your family are welcome to come with you to look around campus or grab a bite to eat, but please only bring one person to your room to help you move in.

Our Residential Life team will host welcome events (either online or physically distanced) to help you settle in and start meeting people. If you have any questions, please contact our accommodation team at accommodation@stmarys.ac.uk.

What happens if I need to self-isolate?

We have an online form you can fill in to let us know you need to self-isolate. Then we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll deliver meals and check in to make sure you’re OK. Since many of your classes will be available online, you won’t miss out on too much. Our fast, reliable, unlimited WiFi will enable you to access your online learning without any issues.

A member of our Residential Life team will check in with you to discuss any support you might need. This could include help accessing wellbeing resources, medication or hygiene products.

Where can I find more information about your COVID-19 measures?

We have a Facebook page for applicants which has the latest news and events. We’ll also keep updating our website as things change. If there’s anything urgent we may also get in touch with you directly. Your safety is our top priority, which is why we’ve signed the London Higher COVID-19 Secure Charter.
