A baseline standard has been created to ensure all VLE courses offer a good and consistent digital learning experience for students. This is essential to provide consistency across a programme of study. To meet this standard, we recommend that all programmes adopt the baseline:

 Bronze Standard

 Recommendation

 Rationale

 Navigation

Use and update course information using the St Mary's module template.

Course information presented upfront.

Consistent content presentation for smooth student navigation.

 Key Learning Content

Use Panopto to record or pre-record lectures, assessment and supplementary content - no longer than 10-15 mins long with good quality audio & visuals.

Use a Resource List to host key resources. This also ensures resources are available and accessible for students in the library.

Ensure learning content is regularly updated, relevant and accurate. Any re-used content must be audited and must not include out-of-date administrative information.

Essential to good student digital learning experience.

Meet the OfS B1 condition.

Compliance with Accessibility and Copyright

Use the Microsoft or Panorama accessibility checker to assess documents prior to upload to the VLE.

All content (especially images) must be correctly acknowledged and described with "Alt Text".

Make closed captions available on video recordings.

Avoid uploading reading materials outside of Leganto or photocopying resources without consultation with the Library team.
