At the Bakhita Centre, we research several forms of abuse, including stalking, domestic, sexual abuse, as well as human rights abuses more broadly.

Stalking awareness training

This training is delivered by St Mary’s University in partnership with the Alice Ruggles Trust, a leading stalking prevention charity. The training has been developed by Dr Maria Mellins and has been informed by stakeholders across the criminal justice system as well as stalking support service providers and the Cyber Helpline.

Training has a particular focus on supporting stalking awareness within education, healthcare, and the criminal justice system.

Alongside our training provision, we have also worked in partnership with Hestia, Richmond Upon Thames Council and the Metropolitan Police to launch our weekly One Stop Shop. This service offers free, discrete support, advice, and information from agencies that are all under one roof concerning domestic abuse, stalking, and sexual violence. Free legal advice and assistance is available as well as other professional advice including information about injunctions and other orders, child contact arrangements, issues with housing, debt, or drug and alcohol addiction.
