Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)

This workshop has been designed to introduce the advanced application of Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) that can be applied to the major muscle groups found in the body.

Dates and times 

This one day course will run from 9.30am-4.30pm on:

  • Wednesday 2nd August 2023.

Location

This course will take place at our 60 Waldegrave Road campus.

Price 

The full course fee is £199.

Content 

On this course you will learn and be given the chance to practice throughout the day Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) for the following muscle groups:

  • latissimus dorsi
  • trapezius
  • levator scapulae
  • sternocleidomastoid
  • pectoralis major
  • deltoid
  • biceps and triceps
  • forearm flexors and extensors
  • quadriceps
  • hamstrings
  • gluteus maximus
  • piriformis
  • TFL & ITB
  • gastrocnemius
  • soleus
  • tibialis anterior.

We will arrange volunteers for you to practice on in the afternoon so please be prepared and bring the following equipment:

  • two large towels
  • two medium towels
  • two small towels.

Couch roll, lotion and cleaning products will be supplied. Please ensure that you have short finger nails, bring a hair band if you have long hair and wear an appropriate outfit to massage. 

Assessment  

This course is not formally assessed however your tutor will continuously assess you throughout the day to ensure you are providing safe treatments. You will receive a St Mary’s certificate of attendance. 

Entry requirements 

This Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) course is open to any individuals who have previous training in body massage at Level 3 or higher.

It is open to practising massage therapists as well as physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, and sports science practitioners.

We will ask you to provide a copy of your qualification when you apply.
