The last of the Olympic squads using St Mary’s as their training base left the campus on the 13th August 2012. We had the privilege of hosting more than 150 athletes and officials from China, South Africa, Japan, Ireland (below), the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway and Mozambique.
St Mary’s excellent facilities, services and accommodation plus a friendly and relaxed atmosphere combined to provide our own mini Olympic Village. Supporting the athletes and coaches in their final preparations was a unique, enjoyable and rewarding experience. The St Mary’s teams performed with real distinction winning nine medals, one Gold, four Silvers and four Bronzes.
Athletes from 14 nations are training at St Mary's University in the build-up to the London 2017 World Championships.
