In 2017, St Mary’s University collaborated with the University of Warwick to bring their prestigious Summer School to our Strawberry Hill campus. A beautiful location just 30 minutes from the centre of busy, bustling London, St Mary’s hosted 200 students for 3 weeks from July to August 2017.
About the summer school
The Summer School offers a range of courses, from English to Economics, and also a ‘Principles of Economics’ course for those without any economics knowledge. Lecturers from St Mary’s will be offering a course on ‘Public Policy and Economics’, which will include a lecture at the Bank of England by Andy Haldane, their Chief Economist, and a tour. The Summer School will also provide a programme of conversations and debates with many influential guest speakers, which in past years has included Nobel laureates, MPs and business leaders.
As well as high calibre teaching and time for self-study, there is also an important social aspect to the Summer School. These will include cultural excursions to London, where students can visit the London Eye and Parliament, as well as to Oxford and Brighton. Students will also be able to take part in a wide variety of activities within the University’s campus, including quizzes, karaoke, and many sports activities that take place at our world-class facilities.
