Pay and Payroll Information

Read all about pay and payroll at St Mary's.

We operate a nationally agreed single pay spine which covers most Higher Education institutions. At St Mary’s, the single pay spine is applied to staff in grades B-L (excluding those on “spot” hourly rates). All spine points are reviewed annually in line with the sector’s national pay award and a cost-of-living increase is normally implemented in August.

The 2025/26 pay scales are as follows - as at 1st August 2025:

Incremental Progression Policy

London Living Wage

Effective from 1st April 2025, although the University is no longer an accredited London Living Wage employer, it was agreed that the University would implement the new rate (£13.85 per hour).

Give as You Earn (GAYE)

Staff are able to donate part of their salary, tax free, to a chosen charity or local cause via GAYE. St Mary's has a GAYE account with Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

For further information on payroll giving, please visit the CAF website. If you would like to donate via GAYE, please complete the GAYE form.pdf and send it to the Payroll team.

If you have any queries regarding Payroll matters, in the first instance please contact Payroll (payroll@stmarys.ac.uk).

You can view your payslip online using PeopleNet.

Payroll deadlines

Payroll deadline dates are the deadlines by which instructions must be received by the Payroll and HR team in order for them to be reflected in salary for that month. Instructions received after the deadline date will not be reflected until the following month.

Payroll deadline dates will be uploaded shortly.

Timesheets

Timesheets are now submitted via PeopleNet. All timesheets should be submitted and authorised by the 4th of the month for payment that month (e.g. to receive payment on February 25th your timesheet must be approved by the 4th of February).

If you have any timesheet queries please contact payroll@stmarys.ac.uk.

If you require system access assistance please email hrsystems@stmarys.ac.uk.

Please note: paper timesheets will no longer be accepted.
