St Mary’s University hosted its second annual British Milers Club (BMC) event with a Grand Prix on Sunday 9 August on the Sir Mo Farah Athletics Track, welcoming 135 athletes from across the world for an evening of high-level middle-distance races.
The event saw 35 races across 800m-3000m, with international athletes from countries including the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Finland, New Zealand, Tunisia, Iceland, Australia, Qatar, Belgium, Netherlands, Canada, and many more.
The event was also attended by St Mary’s alumni, Sir Mo Farah, who watched the racing on the track named in his honour. Adelle Tracey, Olympian and St Mary’s alumna, returned fresh from her competition in the Commonwealth Games, to race in the Women’s 1500m A.
The evening saw an impressive 130 personal bests (PBs) achieved, highlighting the quality and competitiveness of the racing.
The BMC is widely recognised as one of the leading organisations supporting middle-distance running in the UK, with its Grand Prix events providing athletes with opportunities to compete.

A number of current students and alumni from St Mary’s Endurance Performance Centre (EPC), an England Athletics Talent Hub, competed throughout the evening, with several securing podium finishes and personal bests.
