Our Partnership schools are invaluable. Find out more about hosting a St Mary's trainee in your school.
St Mary's University has a broad and varied network of over 600 Partnership schools, offering our trainees the opportunity to learn from expert colleagues in their settings. Our schools play a significant role, not only in the support of our trainees on school experience, but also in the development of our provision and our recruitment processes. St Mary's is committed to the ongoing professional development of mentors by offering a range of resources and training to support staff in our Partnership schools.
Calibre of St Mary's trainees
We are passionate about developing the next generation of teachers who are well prepared for their role in the classroom and for leadership in the future. The St Mary's curriculum is rigorous and comprehensive, to ensure that trainees are equipped for practice in their chosen discipline and that this is reflected in their professional practice.
"Trainees... are therefore relentlessly reflective, highly committed professional colleagues who care deeply about providing the best quality of education they can for their pupils." - Ofsted, 2018
St Mary's reputation for teacher training
St Mary's have a long history of training excellent teachers and are well established in London as a provider of Initial Teacher Training. Expert colleagues in partnership schools form a key part of this provision and we thoroughly enjoy collaborating with mentors, training coordinators, and other school-based colleagues.
Professional development opportunities
We are proud to offer accredited mentor training which is designed to develop those acting as mentors, as well as those who want to further explore their own classroom practice. Our link tutors are subject and phase experts who work alongside mentors throughout a trainee's placement to provide bespoke guidance, support, and training.
We also offer open access professional development resources to school-based colleagues. Our offer of CPD for schools is continuously updated and we would be pleased to discuss this with school leaders further.
