Biography

Dr Zorlu Senyucel is a Senior Lecturer in Business and Subject Lead of Business for SMU Online. He has 17 years of experience of working in academia, and six years in the UK public sector. 

Zorlu is a BA Business Studies graduate of The University of Sheffield. He is holding a MSc in Human Resource Management from Sheffield Hallam University, and a Masters of Research in Management and Business.  He obtained his PhD: “The Impact of e-Government on the Role of Information Systems Function in Welsh Unitary Authorities” in 2007 from Manchester Metropolitan University.He completed his PGCert in Higher Education in Teaching with Merit from University of East London in 2008 and became a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and achieved chartered member status from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) in the same year.

Zorlu has held a range of senior roles in the UK higher education sector, including senior lecturer, mentor, supervisor, department head, consultant, and subject lead. In these roles, he has managed academic teams and complex programmes with over 600 students, supervised more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.He has excelled as a lecturer, winning multiple awards such as Best Undergraduate Lecturer (2011 and 2012) and Best Feedback (2013). His academic contributions extend internationally through research presentations, seminars and staff development workshops in Europe and Asia, demonstrating a strong commitment to inclusivity and collaboration. He is still research active and collaborating with other academics in the UK and overseas. 

Zorlu takes pride in fostering diverse and supportive learning environments while contributing to organisational and educational excellence.
