Rugby League

Rugby League has consistently proven itself a strong and successful club, after another league winning victory in 2021/22 season, cementing St Mary’s reputation as the best university for Rugby League in the south.

As well as having a large on field presence, the Spartans (our club name) put a big emphasis on off-the-field activities, which helps to integrate new players and solidify the close-knit culture in the club. These types of activities range from:

  • raising money for charities, such as Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)
  • team feeds
  • regular socials run by our social secs.

This team trains twice a week with weekly strength and conditioning sessions. All of the team is welcoming to players of all abilities and all RL experiences. All of our players are happy to help out if you want any help transitioning from Union to League, and if you have never played before everyone will make sure learning the sport is as easy as possible.

The club also has a positive long-standing relationship with London Broncos, with many of our players going on to play professionally with the club across the years.
