Accessing Network Shared Drives

Important note regarding shared drives

Shared network drives are now being migrated into Microsoft Teams to make these files available to you when working remotely.

If your drive has not yet been migrated and you need to access your drive remotely, please get in touch with The Hub Online and we can prioritise your access.

Launch IT Online Forms System

If you need access to a specific network drive please submit a Network Share Request form via the Forms.IT button above.

To map a network drive once you have been given access:

  • First, make sure you are connected to the VPN via Globalprotect.
  • Open a File Explorer (Documents) window
  • On the left-hand bar, underneath the Quick-access list, right click on This PC
  • Click on Map network drive...
  • In the new window that appears, choose a Drive letter from the drop down menu. This can be any letter.
  • Copy and paste the link to the Shared Drive you have been sent. It will look something like:
     \\server\share
  • Click Finish
  • To make sure the drive connects every time you log in to the PC, make sure you tick the Reconnect at sign-in checkbox.

If you are using a laptop you will need to have VPN access in order to access shared network drives.
