St Mary’s University, London students on the Chelsea Football Club Foundation Coaching and Development course were recently invited to Stamford Bridge for an immersive induction session.
The day started with an inspiring address from Laura Cordingley, CEO of the Chelsea Foundation. In her talk Laura emphasised the value of the course, particularly highlighting the exceptional opportunities the partnership between St Mary’s and the Chelsea Foundation presents for students aspiring to build a career in the sports industry.
Students then heard from a diverse panel featuring both alumni and current professionals from Chelsea Football Club. This included Alex Daveney, youth development phase (YDP) performance and insight analyst, Victor Odeyemi, senior schools' education officer, Toby Sims, class of 2025 graduate, and Dean Steninger, head of Chelsea Women’s Academy. Each panellist shared their unique career paths and experiences, which led to an interactive Q&A session.
Once the discussions had finished, the students enjoyed a guided tour of Stamford Bridge, learning more about the rich history and culture of Chelsea FC.

The Chelsea FC Foundation Coaching and Development Degree, offered in partnership between St Mary’s University and the Chelsea FC Foundation equips students with essential coaching, football development, and entrepreneurship skills, all while providing a comprehensive understanding of the football industry.
Students benefit from the expertise of seasoned professionals and gain practical experience through exclusive work placements at the Chelsea Foundation. The course provides regular opportunities for students to participate in workshops and guest talks at both Stamford Bridge and the Cobham training ground.
