Dr James Fleming Senior Lecturer, Performance Nutritionist & Instructor Anthropometrist
Dr James Fleming is a specialist in sports nutrition and athletic performance, with a strong focus on supporting elite and highly trained athletes. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at St Mary’s University, London, where he leads the MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition, contributing to the development of future practitioners and researchers in the field.
Dr Fleming’s professional experience includes serving as the Lead Performance Nutritionist for the England RFU Women’s Under-20s Programme and Harlequins Women RFC. He has also consulted for professional sports teams and governing bodies across several sports including rugby, football, and tennis. His doctoral research focused on the nutritional demands of adolescent athletes, a topic on which he has published and presented at international conferences.
In addition to his work in nutrition, Dr Fleming is an ISAK Level 3 Instructor Anthropometrist, with experience teaching body composition courses as well as conducting body composition assessments for athletes across multiple sports. Dr Fleming combines academic rigour, practical expertise, and a passion for advancing knowledge in sports science to empower athletes and their support networks to optimise health, performance, and wellbeing.
