Starting university is exciting, but adjusting to a new environment can feel overwhelming. That’s why at St Mary’s, we’ve built a strong support network within our student accommodation. Whether you need help settling in, someone to talk to, or just a friendly face, our on-campus support team is made of senior students that are here for you.
Senior Residents are experienced students who live in halls and are there to help you navigate university life. They can offer advice, resolve minor issues, and help foster a welcoming, inclusive community. If you ever need guidance, they’re just a knock on the door away.
For more specific concerns, our Resident Mentors provide additional support. They are full time staff members who live in the accommodation with students and work closely with them to ensure that everyone feels safe, comfortable, and included in hall life. Whether you have questions about accommodation policies, personal challenges, or just need a chat, they’re available to help.
The Student Life Team are members of Student Services who are on hand to help create a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant student community. The Student Life Team are available to guide, support, and assist students with a wide range of queries throughout their St Mary's journey.

Yes, however, living in a University Hall is community living and you should consider your fellow residents at all times. Students are asked to enter/leave halls quietly and not to play music too loudly. The Hall should be quiet between 11pm and 8am. We also ask that you are considerate to our neighbours when leaving and returning to the campus, particularly late at night. St Mary's is in a residential area and excessive noise damages the reputation of students with neighbours.

Yes, and there is no need to be ashamed of this. Many students are living away from home for the first time and inevitably there is some reaction to this. Don’t be afraid to talk to someone – for example your Student Senior Resident, Resident Mentor, Student Life Team, or Student Services.
Please don’t be afraid to contact any of the above services for either a private or personal problem/concern.
